What happens to an MP's staff of the MP loses their seat?

Just that really. I'm in the interview process to work for my local MP in their constituency office.

I was wondering what happens to an MP's staff if the MP loses their seat? Would you just be made redundant or are their different rules based on the possibility of it being only a 4-5 year contract? Would it be a limited contract in the first place? Does anybody know please?

Made redundant. If you’ve been there more than two years, you may be offered a redundancy payment.

Yep, you're made redundant. It happened to an acquaintance, not at the most recent election but a few years back. She wasn't expecting it all as it was a supposedly safe seat and she found the suddenness of it all quite hard to deal with. So I guess you should always be mentally be prepared for the worst, especially around election time!

Thanks. Thats what I assumed to be honest but I wasn't sure if there might be some sort of agreement where the incoming MP inherited you! Although I did think that seemed unlikely.
