Food flask ideas

Does anyone use a food flask?
I'm thinking of some for my kids for school dinners but haven't really thought what to put in them aside from pasta or soup. Does anyone have any suggestions please?
Thanks

Any kind of rice dish like jambalaya, fried rice, biryani

Soup is great and of course stew or chowder is a meal in a bowl (or flask in this case)

Chilli con carne if you also pack some tortilla chips or a cheese quesadilla cut into quarters

I used to pop hot dog sausages in the food flask and then send them with the bread rolls to make up hot dogs!
Not hot but I also used to send gyozas and they would eat them cold as something different.

A few more ideas...if you have a wide-mouth flask you can keep all sorts of things warm like
Chicken nuggets
Meatballs
Stir fry
Gyoza
Leftovers from last night's dinner

Just remember to fill it with boiling water and let stand for 5 mins before you put the food in - it'll keep hot for longer.

They're also quite good at keeping non runny stuff warm - dd1 used to air fry samosas, bhajis & sausage rolls to go in hers, although you'd need quite a wide neck.

We found carbs + sauce eg spag bol, chilli & rice, stir fry noodles, went a bit too mushy.

So either soup/stew/chilli/curry with bread to dunk (naan, bread roll or tortilla) OR solid things as above.

Ds liked hot dog sausages in hot water in his, & would then stick them in a bun with ketchup. Mildly gross, but I'd pack veg sticks & fruit too...

Some great ideas, thank you!
Plus now I know what a gyoza is - I may be looking at recipes soon to extend the usual repertoire

Well the food flask idea went well. Super healthy homemade soup, occasional leftovers spag bol etc. Brilliant money saver to feed the whole family cheaply with fresh, non ultra processed food.

Just had a letter from school to say that as they cannot guarantee the temperature of the food in the flask, the kids are risking food poisoning and also that having hot food presents a scalding risk to kids and staff. They have pointed out that hot food is available from the school and if kids want hot food they should use that.

Evidently not refrigerating sandwiches/salads does not pose a food poisoning risk.

I guess it was inevitable eventually. Back to pizza and sausages etc or packed sandwiches from home. Im sure other schools allow food flasks, but not this one
