Boys names - is Freddie really common?

We have recently had a little boy and are still struggling to find a name. Do people know lots of Freddie's? Our toddler is set on the name and isn't budging. It does suit our little one too. Just a bit wary if there is the possibility of lots in one class.

We are debating going straight up Freddie or using Alfred or Fred. As may want to give the option of a non nickname name when older.

What are peoples thoughts?

10th most popular name in 2022. So there might be more than one in the class but who knows? IME you can go for a really uncommon name and still end up with lots in a class, it’s just luck, so pick the name you like because that way it can’t be wrong.

(I’d go for Frederick then he can choose whether he wants to be Fred or Freddie.)

I think Alfred is a lovely classic name and he can still be Fred or Freddie so it gives more options than not putting it on the BC.

People say Freddie is super popular but I actually only know two or three - which isn’t any more than other more unusual names. I know six Hugos and seven Theos.

I think Freddie is very cute. Go with a name you like. Names get popular for a reason .

I don’t know any Freddie’s but I would think long term about suitability. Freddie is a lovely name for a child, but would it sound a bit childish one day when he’s a barrister?

Alfred or Frederick? Both excellent barrister names.
