Best maternity & post partum leggings - proper investment!

Happy Sunday morning to you all!

I’ve been thinking for a while about properly investing in a pair of maternity leggings that will last me all the way through and possibly for a while after (may have a c section).

I’ve seen that Sweaty Betty and (I think) Lululemon do maternity leggings - does anyone have them and would recommend/can attest to them being worth the extra money? I’ve bought Sweaty Betty tops before but never the leggings and never purchased Lululemon! I normally just go to TK Maxx but not finding anything maternity there!

Equally, I’m being advertised unknown brands (larose I think is one of them) on Facebook, that say they help with backache and stuff. I’m not expecting miracles from a pair of leggings but anyone tested any of these?

I was really annoyed last time that I didn’t invest in better clothes as in my head I’d be back in my pre pregnancy clothes soon after birth but I hadn’t done it before and didn’t realise that c section recovery is rough and in reality I was still in maternity clothes or pjs for about 4-6 months afterwards! The bloating was just another level!

I’m hoping to have a VBAC this time around but with it being quite close to my previous C (only 2 years) and my nerves around risking an emergency section if VBAC goes wrong I may still chicken out!

Any advice helpful!

The best maternity leggings I had / have - which kept their shape throughout pregnancy and after birth, were a pair of M&S ‘go move’ maternity yoga leggings.

They were about £25.

Still wear them.

Thanks, I didn’t even know they existed. I’ve been advertised/influenced the more spenny ones on Instagram but can’t get to try them on and hate online ordering as nearly everything goes back!
I can however get to a big M&S so I’ll see if they’ve got some in stock!

A lot of M&S stores don't stock maternity stuff in stores but have it as online only, so do the online stock checker for your store before you waste a journey. I also had some lovely M&S mat leggings and some fleece lined ones from a place called Love Leggings (online only) which I think might now be called Lovall?

Love Leggings is now Loval and are very nice.

Lovall is one of the ones I’m being targeted with on Facebook. I’ll have a look, I think they also talk about stomach support which is why I was worried they were a bit gimmicky because what good can a pair of leggings really do! Thanks very much

I had some of the Lovall maternity ones and I don’t think they had any support, but they were nice quality material and well made.

Pumpkinseason3 · 06/10/2024 22:23

@LL1991 Lovall are good. I wouldn’t say they’re hugely supportive but they are a nice thick material, aren’t see through at all and don’t go baggy at the knees like some other brands do!
I bought a couple of maternity pairs when pregnant and have continued to buy their normal ones ever since 😊

I usually avoid all the brands I see on social media etc but they were recommended to me loads when I asked about maternity leggings on here at the time so I gave them a try 👍🏻

The best ones I had were from
Seraphine. The material was so much nicer than normal leggings. Seamless. Just amazing!

If you are wanting leggings for the winter, M & S Heatgen fleecy ones are brilliant & very well fitting, even though they aren't maternity ones if you size up they are very high waisted, I bought size 22 even though I was a size 24/26 & could tuck the waist under my bra, I'm down to a size 20 now & they still fit well. They don't go baggy or see through.
