Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cup of tea, in my kitchen spot. Kittens are fed & causing chaos scrapping in the washing basket 🙄. No one else is up yet so I'm going to make a second cuppa in a minute, pop a wash on while the kettle boils, and enjoy half an hour's peace ish.

I'm planning to spend the day in the kitchen today. I want to make a stollen (maybe stollen bites), and some biscotti from Anja Dunk's Advent book, maybe carrott and fennel soup, and definitely a full roast 😋. I never got round to trying anything from the book last year so am looking forward to it

Dd1's done all her homework, and some revision, this weekend, so was going to join me. I did ask dd2 but she didn't seem very interested 🤷‍♀️

Later on, I have a new pair of work trousers and a pair of dd2's trousers to take up.

Tonight's plan is Self Care Sunday everything shower followed by an hour with A Thousand Feasts 😊 before an early night ready for the week ahead 💤

We're on a complete go slow today.

We're all still in 'laze about' clothes and only brushed our teeth half an hour ago! How are we all out the door by 8am on weekdays?

I have stripped all the beds and the shopping has arrived / been put away but I'm currently nursing a cuppa and thinking about an afternoon nap 😂

We have the usual Sunday chores - homework / baths / ironing to do and the older kids will have an hour in the little park across the road.

Not sure about dinner. May do a fry up?

@RabbitsRock is there any chance your DH would be willing to share his chocolate chilli recipe?

I’m reaching the end of week 2 of covid and the chest pain and fatigue shows no sign of improvement. My appetite is slowly coming back but seems to be focused on maltesers and tea, so that is what my day will be.

Absolutely nothing is my plan for the day, everything has been manic of late so it's much needed! No one else got up til 10.30 so I've had a couple of hours to myself, tea and crumpets and caught up on Corrie so far, bliss Started Fluoxetine a few days ago and I'm feeling a bit odd and off kilter so sofa, tv and a blanket will do nicely today I think.

@Simonjt I hope everything goes smoothly with your hospital admission.

@JMAngel1 it's a nice bit of me time 😊 often interrupted by one of the girls coming to tell me something of the utmost unimportance 🙄

I'm sat around waiting for a gardener to turn up and got up early so I'd be ready for him. But in seemingly common tradesman style, he's decided to not show up. It mystifies me why so many of them seem to waste people's time like this. If I did that in my line of work I'd be sacked immediately. But aside from that, this afternoon I'll be going out for a Sunday roast at the pub, then enjoy a hot bath and relax later, and probably an early night

I'm going out to meet a friend in an hour or so. DH has taken the DC away for the weekend so I have the house and cat to myself 😁 I'm testing a new recipe idea at the moment and have made a few other basics while I have the oven on.

Been to Mass, called to see disabled relative and sort them out for the day/week. Am now home and marking essays. Feel chuffed reading some of them as they are a weak set and their work is, so far, great and I am proud of them.

DD was at an 18th birthday party last night so we were late to bed after picking her up.
Took DS and DH to church, got back and did my walk then DD got up and made sausage and scrambled egg for us two, then I took her to work for 12.
Bought the Jeremy Clarkson book at The Works and some fudge at Chuckling Cheese, then came back and DH was back and had made me some curry so ate that.
Put a load of washing on including sheets from our bed that I changed yesterday as the weather is better than expected and now trying to chuck some stuff out - loads of stuff i don't really know what to with, especially pictures and pictures of family not with us any more.
Found a Home/School diary from when DS was in Primary and been reading that!

DD is on her nap after we've had a playful morning at a local kids activity park.
I have tons to do in the house but off next week so I'll do it another day.. it's always another day for me! Sat under a blanket drinking some tea and ordering a few Christmas bits.
Wedding anniversary next weekend and my DH has been incredible the last few months so ordering a few extra treats for him too.

Very late check-in today. I've been up since 9. Been to PiYo, showered, and had lunch.
DS has gone out to watch footy and then to Nandos and the Joker film (joys of being a teenager)
I have folded the washing and distributed it to its owners.
Chilling with a coffee. Not sure what the afternoon will bring. Carbonara and wine thus evening and a bit of telly.
Busy week ahead.

Chocolate Chilli Con Carne
Basic Ingredients:-
3 tbsps olive oil
4 onions chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1kg minced beef
2 x 400g tinned tomatoes
2 - 4 red chillis
1 red sweet pepper
4 tsps ground cumin
1/2 tsp ground pepper
2 tsps oregano
2 bay leaves
2 - 3 tsps salt
1 - 2 400g tins kidney beans ( or you can use black or white beans)
60g bittersweet chocolate ( we use a high % of cocoa eg 80%)
Cheddar cheese for garnishing. I have sour cream too.

1. Cook mince, onion & garlic in olive oil
2. Stir in toms, chilli, sweet pepper, salt & spices & cook for 15 to 30 mins
3. Add more chilli, salt or spices as required
4. Add beans & cook until heated
5. Add chocolate, mix well when melted
6. Serve with rice, grated cheese & sour cream if liked.

Sorry so late to the game but I hate to not join in. Missed yesterday as we were travelling all day.

On holiday now. It’s lovely. Just what we needed. I’ve been so ill recently and still am to a point. The heat is helping already.

We had sleep in, pool day and lovey food. Now back at our appointment just chilling out before bed.

Not sure what’s planned for tomorrow. I
still need to be careful but a wee adventure would be good.
