Day/night away by myself

Next Saturday is a significant anniversary for me and I always celebrate it. In the past I've had parties, gone on spa days with friends, and I have done a city break alone before too.

I have nothing planned this time. I'm feeling very reflective, and don't want a party vibe. I'm pretty sure I'd rather be alone than invite anyone along. I live in the north west England. Travel options limited as need to be back Sunday evening. Could travel Friday evening at a push.

What would you do? I need to book/decide or I won't cope well on the day

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Would you go to a spa day alone?
I have and loved it.
What are your hobbies? Do you like walking. Would a day in the mountains appeal. I'm nor too far from the lake district so enjoy solitary days a d theres loads of great hotels with spa and beauty facilities. Are you a city girl? Art galleries and a posh lunch a d a great hotel?

Whatever you decide, I hope the day goes well for you.

I do a lot of hiking, always with groups. I don't think I'd like that alone unless I stayed very local and that doesn't feel special enough. I was contemplating a spa day alone - I love a good book and wouldn't feel self conscious alone, I'm used to travelling solo. City break does appeal, I do like theatre - I guess I could check out what's on in cities or even venture to London

What sort of thing appeals? Loads of good options in the NW as you have coast, the lakes, cities and towns/villages.

I'd pick a something to do - so a gallery or property to visit, or go to theatre, or to a beauty spot.

Suggestions from me: Windermere, RHS Bridgewater, an art exhibition in Manchester or Liverpool.

Depending on your budget I'd book a really nice spa hotel in London - there are some decent reasonably priced ones around Canary Wharf.

That way you have options depending on how you are feeling - spa / show / shopping / walking around for the sites / the museums

Book a cheap direct return on Avanti west coast mainline and use Seatfrog to upgrade to first class!

Is there a theatre show somewhere you would enjoy?

fluckityfluckfluck · 06/10/2024 08:47

It's almost as though there's so many options I can't make a decision

But you're running out of time - why not list your options as a way of organising your thoughts? Is cost an issue?

Ok I'm thinking Scotland - perhaps Edinburgh. I've been twice but never walked up Arthur's seat. And it's a friendly place

I live nearby so I'm going to agree! Weather not great though, but you could have a lovely stay in a city centre hotel.
