Glue Ear Speech Delay

My son was diagnosed with glue ear at 2 as we noticed he had a few words and was babbling and then stopped completely. He was waving copying saying down dog etc

he had his grommets at 2yrs 3 months and 6 months later we have some small progression - but improvement has been very slow - he has started babbling again but only a handful of words

he has full understanding responds to instructions appears to be a bright boy inother areas - he’s just now showing any real desire to want to use his voice and talk!

Has anyone any experience with this and did they find post grommets that it took sometime to turn the corner?

Thank you, everyone

To be honest as soon as mine had grommets he took off straight away with speech but he did have to have speech therapy to help pronounce words. Could the grommets have fallen out?

No I’ve had them checked - how old was your child when they had them put in?

We saw a huge jump with grommets at age 4 but at 6 months it plateaued as the grommets remained inside but moved out of place. We had another two years before she got to 100% hearing and then she caught up very quickly. She is a very visual child though (this isn’t because of the glue ear, I had it myself until age 7 and am not visual, speak 6 languages fluently etc).
