Has anyone put tiny hooks in ceiling for hanging decorations?

I’ve had a shitty few years and to cheer myself up I love decorating for all occasions (look away those who moan about seasonal decor) - things like bunting, banners, streamers and paper lanterns.

I want to put some tiny hooks in the ceiling for the paper lanterns and streamers rather than tape/blue tack.

Long shot but has anyone done this? Are the hooks noticeable when there’s nothing hanging off them? DH is adamant it’ll look terrible while I think if they’re small enough no one will ever even notice. If anyone has done it and has pics I’d appreciate it - Google doesn’t bring up anything helpful.

My DH used drawing pins to do this

We have. My husband puts those tacky 70’s streamers up every year at Christmas and got some little ones that screw into the ceiling.

Yes, these. The white ones are barely discernible on a white skirting board/door-frame/lintel. Mine are up year-round for holding up Halloween/Christmas/Easter strings of lights or bunting.

My mosquito net hangs over my bed using hooks that just stick to the ceiling - no holes. It works well enough but not sure how much weight the double stick hooks can take.

Yes! We have the clear command hooks at ceiling level, because I love those tacky gold lamé Christmas garlands and have them strung up everywhere downstairs. You can't see the hooks at all because they're clear, and our ceilings are quite high.

Yes command hooks up all year and barely notice them

Thanks. I was worried the stick on ones would fall down eventually but will look into them. Who doesn’t love a bit of tackiness to brighten up a room!

Could you hang plants from them the rest of the year, I'm thinking those spider plants with the macrame style hanging bits

I used tiny, clear, command hooks on the walls one year for fairy lights/decorations. I don't know if our paint was old, or they should only been left on a short while, but when removed- about 1/4 of them pulled the paint off too! I'd suggest removing yours after Christmas, incase leaving them longer was the cause.

I think these were the ones: https://command.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/p/d/v000273469/

Command hooks are good. If you attach them right they hold a lot. Nothing stopping you screwing old school iron hooks into a sold joist like you would into a traditional farm kitchen to hand cups but it would probably look very odd and command hooks wouldn't make a mess

Edited

I actually want to keep them up all year round which is why I was thinking of something more permanent (like tiny screw hooks, about 2.5cm). They would only be for paper decorations, not plants or anything else.

I have stuff to celebrate all year long 🎉
