Inspired by ''casual things wealthy people take for granted'' - light hearted

After reading the thread about wealthy people taking money for granted I wondered if you have any light hearted 'inverse bragging' stories to balance things out a bit 😁

Lets be honest, there's no skill in spending a fortune on something. The real skill is managing to acquire (legally) an item for a fraction of the cost. Here's a couple of my victories to get started.

*A pair of unworn, brown leather boots. They would have been about £120 in John Lewis. I found them in a reduced basket in a charity shop for £1.

*A Michael Kors coat for £70 in TKMaxx

*Where I live we put unwanted items in a store room and they're free to a good home. Several wombling excursions over the years have got me, a full length mirror, a bookcase, a steamer and two new curtain poles.

A really lovely wooden garden chair, I was dumping an item at the tip and the man next to me was dropping it off so I asked if I could have it.

Dumbells for my DS and small hand weights for me on the roads what’s app group. It’s a very generous group mainly children’s items over the years but some really lovely stuff.

Leaf blower someone had left out for free.

A whole big bag of crockery and a bathroom cupboard , I got those for a person I knew was setting up home.

A baby buggy and office chair left out on special collections night when I lived in Birmingham. I got the buggy for a friend.

A shoe rack left out for free, have used that for years.

A book case, large desk and filing cabinet that were being thrown away by work, they offered a whole room of furniture when there was a refurb.

MIL gave me a brand new Le Creuset casserole dish that she bought for £15 in a charity shop, they retail for £250.

Karen Millen dress £10, Country casuals dress for £10, many items of clothes. I rarely buy new clothes. Charity shops are good where I live.

ViciousCurrentBun love it 😁

Le Creuset - very nice find. Well done MIL.

*My parents' neighbour gave them 110 apples last week. I suppose meal planning would be easy, apple pie, apple crumble, pork and apple sauce, toffee apples and apple dunking on Halloween. If an apple a day keeps the doctor away they'll be good till mid December 😁

*Went to an Italian place with a friend. They did giant sized pizzas to share. There was a problem with ours, the dough was stretched a bit too thin on one part and formed a hole when it was cooking. She asked if we minded waiting for a fresh one, or we could have the original one for a fiver. We took the offer and the pizza was so big it didn't made much difference. We asked if they had any desserts with a hole in as well 😂

*A different Italian place did happy hour pizza, super cheap. When the waiter brought the dessert menu we joked that they were more expensive than the pizzas. He laughed and said we could have a scoop of ice cream each for 50p. So we did.

*A Next suit jacket and a midnight blue evening dress from John Lewis, both for £1 in a charity shop.
