My gosh it won't budge - nothing touches it. Help!

Rest, rest and more rest.

I hope you feel better soon

And then take another day of rest.

(Seriously, covid can have some nasty neuro effects, and you want to avoid those if you can. Rest can help. If headache becomes truly unbearable, ring 111)

I get awful migraines and both times when I have had covid had a similarly awful headache. Recently for migraines I’ve discovered using peppermint oil and it actually does seem to help reduce the headache. I just just dab a bit on a cotton pad and basically keep it under my nose or on my pillow. Worth a try maybe?

But yes lots of rest and fluids. Also some salty foods like pretzels if you can stomach it.

Oh I had that recently. Not fun.

Painkillers didn't really help me - solpadine only took the edge off (I can't take ibuprofen so unable to comment on that). Magnesium had more of an affect Heat or cold on painful part helped too. I mean a hot water bottle on top of your head might looks silly but if it helps!!!

And yes to fluids. Though I found I still seemed to be dehydrated despite all the water.

Have you taken ibuprofen and paracetamol together? Also - is it sinus related headache in which case Sudafed original tablets will help.

WickedWineWitch · 03/10/2024 07:51

Thanks all I've just been doing paracetamol so might try ibuprofen too. I do have blocked sinuses as well so maybe that's causing it. But it is just constantly there and doesn't shift . It reminds me of a pre-migraine headache - it's pretty intense. I can cope with the coughing but not the head!

It'll be your sinuses.

Try and do a rinse, that may budge some of the crap in there. If not, a warm compress on the forehead and nose can help.

I'll send my husband out for Sudafed

@WickedWineWitch - the only thing that helped me with Covid headache, (which was excruciatingly painful), was an ice pack on the head. I always keep some in the fridge now in case of emergencies!

I also recommend lying down with said ice pack and trying to sleep - if that’s an option for you.

I have some soft ice packs from Boots that I wrapped in a thin tea towel. However, I found that picnic ice blocks - again wrapped in a towel - worked better/lasted longer, as long as you just rest your head on the side of them whilst lying down. (Smacking yourself on the head with a hard plastic object will not be helpful!)

Hope you feel better soon 💐

WickedWineWitch · 03/10/2024 09:27

Thank you this makes total sense - I had some of those Kool and soothe fever strips that helped last night but a proper ice pack will be much better!

Have you tried ibuprofen lysine, rather than just normal ibuprofen.

I find heat at the back of my head helps my headaches, as well as making sure to nibble on something like a cracker.
