...parent teacher committee or parent teachers association at your child's school?
I need advice!

I'm thinking of applying for the EOI for a parent representative or events coordinator at my DS's primary school.

They have asked for a one page application explaining who I am and what could I bring to the role.

I don't know or what to put I'm also wondering if anyone has been I involved in a similar role

I just like to join as I volunteer at the school now helping with craft and I really really enjoy being part of the school.

I've been a SAHP but working part time in a media role.
I dont have any plans to return to work full time so would have time to help.

thanks for reading 😊

What's an EOI?
Is this a paid role?

If you have a pulse & look mildly willing you're on our PTA/Parent council.

EOI = expression of interest

Hmmm if you don't know what to put, should you be applying for the role?

If you really want to do it, just expand on what you've put in your post.

The purpose of the PTA is to raise funds for the school. Tell them about your part time media role and how the skills you use in that role could help you organise events and fundraising in the school. How are you going to encourage parents to contribute? What fresh ideas do you have? How much time can you actually give? Are you good at leading a team?

You need to sell yourself by telling them about the skills you have. Just be careful... helping in craft sessions with the children is a million miles away from being in the PTA. Many, many parents don't like or want to engage with the PTA. How will you deal with that?

Ah okay.
I'd write what you've put where - you've really enjoyed your volunteering & would like to contribute more to the school community.

Events coordinators have to be organised, able to delegate, full of ideas, consideration of all parts of your school community - parents, kids, rich & poor + cultural diversity. Any experience of events thru your media stuff?

Parent reps need to be willing to speak up, and be that link between parents & school - sounds like you already have an insight of both with your volunteering. Good comms skills - guessing your media work would help here?

Both you will need to give up their own time for meetings, planning.
