18 months later and I've still got the same fissures

Posting for traffic, shamelessly hoping some can advise me

I had a similarly painful fissure about 6 years ago, didn't go away so after 6 months I had Botox. It sorted it, and didn't return again.

Fast forward to 18 months and I've got the most agonising fissure. None of the treatments are working, despite consistently applying when told to. I am not constipated.

I saw a Consultant for it 4 months ago, who said he couldn't see anything so it must've healed? It was at that time looking much better but still very sore. I thought maybe it was in its way out?

It is now much worse, I fear. I have taken photos Blush obviously won't post! But I can see the rip in the arsehole. It is horrific and going to the toilet is worse than childbirth despite very soft stools

What can I do? GP saw it. And told me today that he couldn't just refer again after them discharging me and saying they couldn't see it. But he says he can see 'oh, yes, that's a big one'

It's miserable Sad

Years ago I was given GTN cream, and it cleared it up completely.

Localher0 · 02/10/2024 21:42

GTN also worked wonders for me but I presume that's the cream you're already using....??

Rectogesic stopped working for me so I was given Diltiazem which was very effective and without the headache!

Sounds awful, poor you. I would insist on being referred again, what the GP said sounds ridiculous. He says you have the fissure so the fact you have been discharged is irrelevant, you now need to be referred again surely as a new or recurring issue?

Munchyseeds2 · 31/10/2024 21:10

My DH had the GTN cream etc.. in the end he had surgery

How are you now OP? When you looked at it yourself, what did it look like? Mine doesn’t look like the “small tears” I can see online 😳
hope you are well.
