I have an interview for sainsburys next week. Does anyone have tips from those that work there. Are they a good employer etc.

No they are not a good employer. My exH worked for them as a delivery driver and they were always getting his salary wrong or paying him late amongst other things.

No. Nobody works for Sainsburys.

I used to work there. It was okay not the best place enough to put me off working in retail again. X

I used to work there as a manager, and did a lot of the hiring for the store.

IMO you get what you put in. If you cause 'issues' and don't work fast enough, you'll find yourself treated terribly and hate it (not saying this is right, but common!). Managers respect the ones who do the job well and hit the targets - and pick up overtime!

For the interview, depending on the manager you're talking to you'll either be asked 'standard' customer service questions or it'll just be a chat. Show interest in the role, and highlight problem solving ability. Give as much range of availability as possible, they'll expect at least 1 weekend day depending on the role. Morning shifts/school time shifts are gold dust and normally 'belong' to tenured staff, so shifts are often evenings and weekends if not stated on the ad. If it's Groceries Online, it's most likely to be 4am starts. Salary cannot be negotiated and is set.

Don't forget to bring your Right to Work docs for the interview! It happens SO often and depending on the manager/number of candidates they won't reschedule (and can't complete the offer process without them).

I used to work there as an online shopper. I enjoyed it tbh. Yes they did push you to make sure you hit your target every day, but it was easy work. I was allowed to wear headphones and listen to music whilst I shopped. Would happily do it again

My uncle worked on their checkouts for several months whilst looking to get back into his industry (after being made redundant). He thought they were a decent employer and he was allowed some flexibility when requesting his shift patterns. This was five years ago, so it sounds as though things may have changed.

Ii used to work in a small s'bury on a petrol station site. I loved it. Small local shop so got to know all regulars/locals. As previously said, you get out what you put in. I used to run charity quiz sheets couple of times a year....not allied to S'bury but we had v flexible manager (David....where are you?). Only left as shop taken over and I got decent redundancy.
