Help with interview question please

I have an interview tomorrow (volunteer position) and we get the questions beforehand to help give the best answers, then you have to expand on it at the interview.
One question is:
In this role you will meet a diverse range of people. Is there anything you would need to consider when supporting witnesses from other cultural (ethnic/religious/racial) backgrounds to yours?
What kind of things would that be?

*disclaimer. I live in the whitest area of England so it's not at all diverse round here and haven't really mixed with anyone from other backgrounds.

You’d need to tailor it to what you would be doing ideally, “supporting witnesses” makes me think something police / legal? So thinking about what it would be like if someone potentially didn’t have an understanding of the UK’s culture, systems, expectations etc. Asking questions to establish people’s understanding in a way that doesn’t sound racist or patronising, but means you can provide explanations and support at the appropriate level. Thinking about barriers to the people you are supporting accessing services - economic, cultural, practical, language based, religion based, and how to work with those. Emphasising that you would always be non judgemental and would be respectful of cultural, religious, racial difference etc. Probably helpful if you’ve done any training around unconscious bias etc to mention that as well. I’m not sure saying you haven’t really mixed with anyone from other backgrounds is going to be helpful - instead maybe think about how you approach situations where someone has different beliefs or values to you, to demonstrate how you approach that? Best of luck!

Thank you so much @Babyshambles90, that's really helpful.
It's court based Witness Support so basically explaining the court process, explaining legal jargon, showing them the courtroom if they want, answering questions and offering emotional support and sitting in with them in court on the day of the trial. It all sounds so interesting and rewarding!

What about language barriers? Speaking to someone with English as a second or third or beyond language would need things explaining/showing to them very differently. (Picture explanations, simple vocabulary, an interpreter maybe?)

Also treating everyone as an individual, not making assumptions about them and their needs because of those factors. One person from a certain background is just that, one person, whose needs may be very different to another person from that background.

Ensuring equity of access.

Example could be ensuring court visits are arranged at times to suit their religious responsibilities.
