Best portable induction hobs/air fryers/slow cookerd

Hello - we are without a cooker currently and looks like we might be for the foreseeable until we get a new kitchen put in.

Looking at portable induction hobs and air fryers as a temporary solution. Do you have recommendations on the best/most reliable models please? Needs to be of a size to feed family of four. So far the IKEA plug in induction hob is looking good, at a bit of loss for an air fryer as never used one before.

Thank you!

I was late to the air fryer game and rather of the opinion of why did i need one of those but bought this one (for £99!) in the Amazon prime day and I wouldn't be without it now. Things can be cooked while you'd have been waiting for the oven to warm up and it's a lot more efficient if you're only making small quantities. I use my oven so much less now. Thank you, that's very helpful! May I ask how many you can comfortably feed cooking with it?

A rice cooker or better still a multi cooker is a good idea for lack of kitchen, mine cooks perfect rice but also curries, stews, soups even porridge.

Allegedly you can fit a full chicken in the larger drawer!! I haven’t tried! I only usually cook for 1 or 2 people but it’s plenty big enough for more.

@mitogoshigg oh thank you, I'd not even thought of that but will do a bit of research!

I use the IKEA plug in induction hob. I live alone and find the single one sufficient for me. I used it for 2.5 years when it suddenly stopped working. I contacted them and a replacement was organised immediately - including free delivery of the replacement. So far, 6 months in, the replacement is fine.

I also use an Instant Pot, It's an air fryer plus plus plus. Bakes, grills, roasts as well as airfrying. Change to the other lid and it is a pressure cooker, slow cooker, sous vide etc. 11 different uses - some used more than others. Great for cooking bacon - no greae spread around the kitchen.

I live alone, so this is plenty for me. A 2 ring induction would probably be more useful if there were 2 of us here.

Since I have had them I use my over once a month or so for pizza and once a year or so for mince pies.

(Oh, and can I suggest you look at DIY Kitchens, when you are looking for your new one)

Ikea plug-in induction hob seconded. I've used it as a stop-gap when my hob went kaput - worked fine, we're a family of five. I did curry/stew type dinner in a cast-iron pan (le creuset style). Once that's cooked, take that off the hob and cook the rice. Cast-iron pan keeps the dinner warm, love it! I had planned on using the slow cooker, but the cast iron pan works so well on the induction hob that I use that instead.

Thank you, these are really useful! I think IKEA hob is a go and I'll research other suggestions further 🙂
