Halloween | Trick or Treating

What does everyone do...

Last few years I have taken my DD trick or treating around our estate - it's very busy, nice atmosphere, we spend a good couple of hours walking around and having a great time as most houses get involved!

I don't like the idea of us not giving back so I've always left a bowl of sweets outside the front door for kids to help themselves but obviously the older kids take the whole lot 🙄🙄 seen in on my doorbell each time.

I have seen someone mix in a load of sweets in slimy cooked spaghetti so I may do something similar but has anyone got any other tricks up their sleeves? 🙃

Here we take it turns, one person stays home giving out the sweets and DS helps out once home and the other goes out with DS.

No need to do tricks or anything or leave sweets out. If sharing the loads not an option then you just join in once back or miss a few years of distributing sweets until she's old enough to go around with some friends. No need to feel bad not taking part it evens out as they grow up.

We do it when we get in but don’t get many knocks though we it’s later I wouldn’t leave any sweets out personally

Thanks both! DH works so can't take turns and DD is only 4. Might not put anything out this year... DD loves our decorated house though so feel like we're deceiving 🤣

Put a note on the door saying be back later or at 6 (gone out trick or treating )whatever time that’s what I’ve seen people do so we will be doing it this year

We usually go out trick or treating 5-6 then come home to dish out the sweets from 6pm -just put a sign on your door

We do turns, last year I took DD trick or treating with some of her friends and other mums and DH stayed at home to give out sweets.
Not sure what else you can do if that's not an option, maybe leave big bowl of sweets with a "spooky" sign saying take only one each, we're watching you....

Just don't go out for as long, she's only 4. Then she can enjoy giving out sweets too.

I'd agree with this. If she's only 4 then spending several hours walking round is a bit bonkers. She'd be just as happy visiting the nearest houses spending 30 mins - a hour getting treats and then coming back to hand out sweets.

That's a good idea haha!

We go with a couple of kids from our road (they all know each other) so they end up running around for a few hours. I'll probably end up putting a note on the door
