If you are not young, what music do you like? And want to hear?

I hate Radio 2 with a vengeance. It all sounds like cheesy cheap pop, which I have never liked because I don't enjoy obviously easy listens. I really want to hear new music, well played, accomplished, sophisticated. Spotify seems to deliver 20 minutes of decent stuff and then descends into plinky plonk crap.. it descends into the cheapest generic version of the genre. How does a person with varied taste in music continue to hear the best of the new?

I listen to kisstory on the Alexa regularly. If not, I've made my own playlists on Apple Music for however I'm feeling that day, or just general / regular listens.

I look at local smaller venues and just look up all the bands on YouTube and see if I like the sound of them. If I like it, sometimes I'll go to the gig and then if the support is good I'll look them up too. I also look up songs I hear in movies/TV shows to find what it is, found a few new things that way. I also look up stuff that ppl mention in comments of stuff I like on YouTube as ppl often mention similar bands/artists. Just a few suggestions for ways to find music in case anyone finds it helpful.

I'm positively ancient and listen to Boom Radio. Music from the late 50s, early 60s. Takes me back to being a teenager,
