Will a roasting beef joint breakdown like brisket

I have a brisket to slow cook tomorrow for a chili but I thought the joint was bigger than it is and it's to feed a few people. Will a roasting beef joint shred like brisket if slow cooked?

Yes :) I used a roasting joint the other day for a stew, took about 8 hours for it to actually come apart but was really nice. I left the string on so didn't look like much was changing for a while then when I took the string off it came apart in lovely big chunks.

Probably not. The brisket has lots of connective tissue and fat marbling the meat which melts away during cooking. The roasting joint has a different structure and texture. So the roasting joint can be sliced and served alongside, but it won’t be the same.

I bow to @TLMTTCSJTT1 ‘s greater experience.

I do think you make a good point actually that I should've clarified it won't be exactly the same as brisket op but quite nice xx

I was going to chuck them in together.
The brisket recipe I've done before and takes about 4/5 hours but if the roasting beef which is silverside btw would take longer even if it will eventually breakdown ill not chance it and nip to the butchers in the morning 🙈
