They're long-leggy spiders. Harmless but scream inducing. 😱

Tatiepot · 26/09/2024 12:28

they are called harvestmen...because they are most visible at this time of year. they are completely harmless as @Turnitoffnonagain says, and generally move fairly slowly...so less scary than some of the others that are around at the moment!

Turnitoffnonagain · 26/09/2024 12:49

All the long leggy bugs seem to appear at this time. Don't get me started on the long-leggy flies 😱 My DH knows when he hears a shriek to fetch the bug catcher and escort them off the premises for me.

Harvestmen eh?! Never seen them before in my life!

Good lord no thank you! Though why am I still looking 😭😂

Yep harvestmen.
I thought my hair was itching my shoulder in bed recently.
Readers, it was not.

Fontainebleau007 · 26/09/2024 16:59

Here is a clump of them in Mexico. Don't watch if you're easily frightened though 😂

Aww, they're decorating your house for Hallowe'en for you.

They're not actually spiders as such, they're arachnids. No web, no venom, just legs and, much like many of us, no waist to speak of compared to their higher profile cousins.

The obvious behavioural characteristic of this species is its gregariousness - forming roosting aggregations of between fifty and a thousand individuals. These roosts often occur on, and inside, buildings.

Inside! Wonderful!
