When did you notice your DC was colour blind?

Mine is 2 and still doesn’t name the colours correctly. She says everything is blue, purple, or green. We talk about colours, have books with colours, etc, but she doesn’t seem to be able to name them correctly. (She’s otherwise quite clever and verbal). I don’t recall my oldest having this trouble. DH is colourblind so I suppose there is a chance for her, too.

For a start off colour-blindness in women is unusual.
You would have to be a carrier for her to inherit it from her df, as it's a recessive disorder, I think. Do you have any colour-blind relatives?

My oldest was about 3.5 before she recognised colours. She could actually read most of the words before she could recognise her colours. She didn't seem to have a clue - letters, numbers etc. no problem. Colours. No idea.
I was convinced she was colour-blind.

Anyway, at about 3.5yo she suddenly got it. About 1-1.5 years after her peers really. But she went from knowing none, to knowing them all, including things like beige and turquoise, in about 3 weeks.

My middle one knew basic colours at 2yo, but only got more complicated ones at a similar age.

I wouldn't worry yet, but if she's good at listening and following instructions, you could try printing off some of those colour-blind tests off the internet, and see if she can follow the different colours with her finger. (assuming she doesn't recognise numbers/letters)
