Italy moves towards Chemical Castration

100% agree with this and wish we would do this in UK, if rapists and paedophiles wish to live in society, they need to have their sexual urges removed. My own opinion is that therapy and rehabilitation does not work for these offenders. I was unfortunate to cross paths with a paedophile as a child and all they care about is sexual gratification.

I think what people are missing is that this would be a voluntary programme.

So exactly the same as we are doing in the UK with the trial scheme at HMP Whatton.

Reading with interest - all for anything that stops offending but not sure this is the answer.

If these abhorrent criminals are in prison for life they can’t reoffend - simple

Yes, but that's not relevant to the point I'm making.

What you say about locking up life not stopping reoffending is rubbish. Locking up for life STOPS reoffending. I only read that far so I don’t know what else you write.

I said nothing of the sort. Perhaps you'd be well served to go back and re-read that post.

Your words that can be found in the quote history - “I think it's important to point out to the people who advocate for people who commit sex offences to be locked up for life that there is not one single study which shows length of sentence is in any way a deterrent to criminals.“ You explain then how keeping someone in prison allows them to reoffend? How’s that possible?

I have no idea how you've concluded this from my post. You appear to be confused.

Of course they can. Let’s not pretend they are all locked up in isolation without access to any vulnerable people. They are merely restricting their potential victims to young men in the prison system.

In the United States, male on male prison rape is a massive problem, particularly in facilities with young or first time offenders, who are the most likely to be victims.

You’re not making sense but that’s ok

That’s another problem. It’s not an excuse to release these disgusting criminals outside.

As before, I do not believe these men can be rehabilitated, the urge is too strong and the only way to deal with this is to remove the urge - castration, if chemical doesn't work then physical castration. Otherwise they will continue to harm and or kill kids.

I am in complete agreement with you, commit the crime and forfeit their testicles and penis, our priority needs to be keeping women and girls safe.

No rehabilitation of sex offenders.

Nicola1978x · 03/04/2025 17:45

3doughnutproblem · 02/04/2025 08:51

I don't think they do lose the urge as they get older, look at Jimmy Savile and Gary Glitter, he re offended the minute he got out

I advocate that we take a best approach to mitigating risk.

Commit a sex offence and automatical castration, no excuses, they forfeit their testicles and penis.

Would keep women and girls safe and punish the offenders.

Raping someone is pretty inhumane I would have thought?

So why sink to the same level?

So why sink to the same level?

It not sinking to the same level. It's stopping predators in their tracks.
