Gift for nursery key worker ideas?

DS will be moving rooms at nursery and will have a different key worker. His current key worker is amazing, so kind and brilliant with the kids and works is hard in what I imagine to be a difficult job. This will be the first time he's changing rooms at nursery as only started a year ago when he was 2, is it the norm to get a little gift and card to say thank you? Any suggestions what to get? I'm rubbish with these things. Want to avoid alcohol as I don't know if/what she drinks so other suggestions welcome!

When my grandson’s key worker left for another job, I bought a scented candle and wrote a sentimental message. It sounds a bit twee out of context, but she loved it. It said Every time you light this candle, remember the light you brought to my days at {nursery name}

I did a card and some sunflowers for my child’s key worker when he moved rooms over the summer. I agree with you that it must be a difficult job and I don’t think it hurts to show out appreciation!

My daughter drew a picture of her and her keyworker, with decoration and we had it printed onto a tote bag

I would say that while gifts may be appreciated, it can be a bit hit and miss - if you go chocolates maybe they're on a diet, wine maybe they don't drink, a potted plant maybe they have zero green thumbs and a cat that eats them, a candle maybe they just don't like candles, a mug with a message on, it's very generic and how many mugs do they already have, even a voucher do they shop at the place it's for. But a card with a heartfelt message on, accompanied by a letter addressed to her manager that praises all the efforts she has gone to with several specific personalised examples, and how much you've appreciated it - that's worth its weight in gold in most jobs. Sometimes work incentives like bonuses can be given if you get good feedback. And great to use when she wants to go for a promotion!

My DD always gave Starbucks/Costa vouchers to nursery staff

Best to just get child to do them a card, most things that r given to nursery staff and teachers end up at the charity shops.

We have done hand print cards (hand print made into a Dino), bath bombs, chocolates, flowers…..just depends on the key worker and what they like.

I always think a home made card with the kids hand print and nice message of appreciation goes down well.

I would go for a voucher, I imagine there are kids moving onto the next room at least every month, possibly most weeks. Imagine how many personalised mugs, plants etc they get. Bet most of it lands in the bin or charity shop.

I did this and got beautiful bunch of flowers in water in case vase was a problem.
She loved it and was all tearful. ❤️ She was an incredible young woman.

I'd do a card with your child drawing in it and either a bunch of flowers or a Costa or M&S gift card. Something fairly safe and generic.
