Who still uses their walking pad? Progress / durability reports wanted!

I'm looking to buy a walking pad (much prefer walking outside but currently have caring responsibilities which make it hard for me to be out of the house regularly for longer periods).

There are lots of threads from earlier on in the year with posters buying walking pads to support New Year weightloss. I'm just wondering how the walking pads have held up to regular use? Is your walking pad still going strong after 8 or 9 months (or longer) and not falling apart? If so, I would love to hear which brands you recommend.

My top 3 nice-to-haves would be a quiet(-ish) motor, the possibility to set a small incline and a top in excess of 7mph.

Bumping for you OP - I'm interested too!

wp65 · 24/09/2024 01:27

I'm also interested and bumping!

TheCentreCannotHold · 24/09/2024 07:38

Thanks for the bumps! I wonder if the tumbleweed is indicative of a breakdown in relations? I hope not ‐I really want to get one.

I fear we will never know whether the walking pads are still in use.

THERE IS CLEARLY A CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE.

SquirrelSoShiny · 24/09/2024 18:59

I need one too!

<waits hopefully>

I'm on my second pad in three years. My first didn't have a big enough motor for use multiple times per day. I can't advise regarding incline or the speed you want as I can only walk at a max 4kph while typing!

My brand doesn't appear to be on Amazon anymore (TheRun), but it was around £300, has a 2.5 hp motor and I wouldn't be without it!

Rainbows89 · 24/09/2024 19:11

Mine is fab and is still in excellent condition after a year.

(I’ve only used it about once oops)

mackers1 · 24/09/2024 19:16

I was just saying to my husband I will be jumping on mine this evening, as have been working all day, sitting and dark so early. I keep some weights nearby and break it up with some reps. Sure will be using it more now.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 24/09/2024 19:18

Mine has been used almost daily since Covid, but unfortunately does not seem to be available anymore.

sleepyscientist · 24/09/2024 19:57

My mum uses hers a lot

thenightsaredrawingin · 24/09/2024 20:00

I bought one in January and am still using it. I use it for between 3000 and 6000 steps a day in order to make my daily steps up to 8000. It still works as new, I oil it every 3 months. It has been a great purchase for me.

SquirrelSoShiny · 24/09/2024 20:25

Any brand recommendations?

XenoBitch · 24/09/2024 20:40

I am looking to get one too.
It is a bloody minefield looking at them all.

thenightsaredrawingin · 24/09/2024 20:40

I have the Redliro Walking Pad Under Desk, Portable Mini Treadmill with Remote Control £118 at amazon

I'm thinking of getting this! Would you recommend it?

thenightsaredrawingin · 24/09/2024 20:55

Yes it has last well since January with daily use. I bought it becuase it is really slim and fits under my bed. The remote works well for adjusting the speed and it goes up to 4 miles per hour. I generally walk at about 3mph so this is plenty for me.

TLMTTCSJTT1 · 24/09/2024 20:58

Use mine everyday and certainly whenever I watch TV. Have got used to it if I ever wfh too. Best thing ever for weight loss and maintenance.

Thank you! I'll go for it

TheCentreCannotHold · 24/09/2024 22:41

Yay, thanks for responding! I was beginning to think literally nobody was still at it!
It's encouraging to see that some of you have used yours consistently for a long time and built them in to a nice routine. Hm, I wonder whether I have got my units of measurement mixed up in term of preference. Must double check.
Thanks again!

People who do work while walking, did you find it difficult to get used to?

RestlessDollyMaunder · 25/09/2024 02:02

There was a thread on here a while back and people were saying their walking pad gave them motion sickness. Might have been because they were using them whilst working in their laptops.

OhcantthInkofaname · 25/09/2024 02:13

I'm from the US and I wondered what a 'walking pad' was! Over in the US we call them a treadmill.

Once I found my 'working pace' I also found I was more productive. It takes a bit of trial and error. Once I'm in the zone, the combination of movement and concentration is fab.

Historically they've been called a treadmill in the UK too... No idea where this new name trend came from!
