Do you snore?

We've all read about those annoying other halves on here, but what about you - are you a snorer?

I am, but luckily not that frequently, and not loud enough to initiate divorce proceedings according to DH 😬

DesperateTimesHelp · 22/09/2024 20:49

No

StarSlinger · 22/09/2024 20:54

Sometimes.I woke myself up snoring on the sofa this afternoon.

Snowdropsarelovely · 22/09/2024 21:05

Yes and I really wish I wasn't. I'm so embarrassed. I avoid situations such as weekends away where I may have to share a room with others

BeretRaspberry · 22/09/2024 21:08

Yep. And loudly. It’s pretty much the only thing that embarrasses me about being fat. Although I snored when thin too, it’s worse now.

PashaMinaMio · 22/09/2024 21:11

Yes, from time to time. Wake myself up sometimes. Hate sharing a hotel room.
I try not to think about it! It is what it is. 🤷‍♀️

greengreyblue · 22/09/2024 21:12

No and neither does DH thankfully.

PauliesWalnuts · 22/09/2024 21:16

Yep, since perimenopause started. Apparently one of the many things that atrophies is your vocal cords - I’m a throat snorer rather than a nose snorer, although putting on weight recently hasn’t helped. I’m newly single so it doesn’t bother me at the moment but I’m planning a gap year and not looking forward to sleeping on planes, trains and in dorms for this reason. According to my sleep app I snore for about an hour a night and it’s pretty awful.

AliceMcK · 22/09/2024 21:19

Yes, have done for years, has gotten worse as I’ve gotten older and fatter. I now have OSA so my poor DH is screwed 😝

sunshineandshowers40 · 22/09/2024 21:20

I do and always have done- I hate it and feel very embarrassed about it.

Jakadaal · 22/09/2024 21:21

Yes and I hate the fact that I do. I recorded myself and it was horrific listening to it. Fortunately DH has grown accustomed to it. When I travel with friends I always book my own room. I dread having to go into hospital or anything like that. I don't sleep on planes
Or on the beach. I've just come back from holiday and was grinding my teeth to stop me snoozing in the sun!

I am going to go to the GP as I think I might have sleep apnea but it feels trivial Blush

PositiveLife · 22/09/2024 21:22

Yes but not all the time. I seem to snore more when I'm really tired.

NeverAloneNeverAgain · 22/09/2024 21:24

Yep. Me and DH have separate rooms 🫣 I'm not over weight and I haven't smoked for 10+yrs, don't drink. I don't have any sleep condition - I've been through sleep study. I have had my nose broken repeatedly though so assume this doesn't help. I also avoid situations where I may need to sleep near other people. It's very frustrating 😑

needhelpwiththisplease · 22/09/2024 21:25

I do and always have

Topseyt123 · 22/09/2024 21:26

I can occasionally if I roll onto my back while asleep, but mostly I sleep on my left hand side all night. It doesn't seem to happen then.

TheChosenTwo · 22/09/2024 21:29

I can do so dh tells me.
I always opt to pay for an extra room somewhere so I can sleep alone, I don’t actually mind the idea of sharing a room with a friend or sister but it’s not really fair on them and I also end up just not sleeping properly at all as I’m really worried about keeping them awake!

Same here - struggle to breathe through nose when awake (surgery didn't help), so no chnce whwn asleep. Am really sensitive about it

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 22/09/2024 21:39

Yep. We both do. Separate bedrooms and it is bliss.

NetDesMamans1 · 22/09/2024 21:40

Yes, I always have. There are so many things I'd love to do, like camping, and it upsets me that I can't. I did take my kids glamping for 3 nights this Summer, and I did snore, but we managed. I'm quite paranoid about having a new partner. Ex used to kick/shove/punch me in the back in bed for my snoring, and sometimes I feel like my muscles are still holding onto that. I saw my GP and apparently my throat is extra narrow - so it's anatomical 😭😭😭

DadJoke · 22/09/2024 21:41

Yes. I wait for my partner to go to sleep, then drift off. She doesn’t notice. I feel bad for other people if I share a room.

I felt the same but GP insisted on a sleep apnoea overnight test. My SATS were dropping to 70 at times and my breathing was stopping 64 times an hour. It is likely that the sleep apnoea was causing pressure in my eyes( being treated for glaucoma) Acid reflux, high blood pressure and difficulty with weight loss.
I am currently trying to get used to CPAP overnight which takes some getting used to but the machine is very quiet and I no longer snore AT ALL.

Whatthefuck3456 · 22/09/2024 21:54

I never snored until I had breast enlargement. If I’m sleeping on my back I snore loud 😖 i sometimes even wake myself up. I hate it, I frequently wake up with my husband trying to gently roll me onto my side as I donor snore this way!

if I didn’t have great boobs I half think he would have put a pillow over my face by now 🤣

CissOff · 22/09/2024 21:57

Yes, DH doesn’t and is tolerant of my snoring. I’m not sure I would be as kind as he is ❤️

Pebbles16 · 22/09/2024 22:06

Yes, I snore. Not every night and not all the time, but it's bloody annoying. I have had sinus issues since being a child and I try my best but it persists.
Dh swears he doesn't (but does). Separate rooms because of menopause-related heat/restlessness/insomnia.
Makes life much easier on all fronts.

Defender90 · 22/09/2024 22:17

Yep. Regularly sound like a V8. We sleep separately during the working week.

GettingStuffed · 22/09/2024 22:20

Not anymore. I have been diagnosed with sleep apnoea and use a cpap, but since losing weight I can go a couple of weeks before it starts up again.
