Can't go to preschool at all on antibiotics

My 3 yo is currently on antibiotics as she has a bad chest triggered by her asthma. She has been absolutely fine in herself and perfectly well enough to go to preschool

The preschools policy however is that she cannot attend until she has finished the course. I haven't come across another nursery with this rule, they all state either 24 to 48 hrs off which I understand the reasoning behind.
Pre school have told me they have this policy to keep their small workforce safe and if a child is poorly enough to seek medical attention they are too poorly to attend preschool.

My daughter has been on antibiotics for various reasons, infected eczema, ear infection and with the winter coming up it is inevitable she will get more chest infections. All of which do not make her feel poorly and are not contagious

So this means she will need at least a week off every time she is prescribed them which is not doable as I don't get paid if I don't go to work.

Just to add..when she is actually feeling poorly or had a bug I have no problem keeping her off but she very rarely is actually poorly!
Has anyone had any experience of this before?

Some nurseries are ridiculous. You could try getting the GP to write a letter explaining there is no need for her to be off, but I doubt you'll get anywhere. You might need to switch to a more pragmatic nursery I'm afraid.

No never, ours is first 24 hours at home in case of reaction to the medicine. After that, they can be in nursery and the staff will give them their doses, assuming they are well enough.

Most odd.

I mean even if child is poorly at the start by day 3 / 5 (depending on length of the course of AB) they are usually loads better?

I'd definitely be wanting to discuss this with them.

That's what I'm thinking!

Do they have to know, if she isn't a risk to others? Can you dose her up as you take her in and again when you pick her up.

I suppose you could just time doses so they’re given at home, if that’s possible and not tell them. Obviously you leave it the usual 24 hours to make sure they’re no longer infectious though! But really I’d change nurseries especially if you know your DC is more likely than most to be prescribed them because I don’t like the thought of lying to them but their position is ridiculous and unnecessary.

Our preschool nursery is much more strict than our private daycare nursery, but even they'll take them on antibiotics but won't give a dose.

It's just a policy to encourage parents to lie isn't it! I would do but she's such a chatterbox she will end up telling them anyway 😂

Don't tell her they are antibiotics. Tell her they are probiotics. Then it doesn't matter if she mentions it.
