Raw mince out of fridge for 24 hours: cook or chuck?

Per the title...bought it yesterday in passing whilst out shopping for other things. Shoved it in my handbag and promptly forgot about it. Just discovered it now about 24 hours after purchase. Would you eat it? I'm thinking I either cook it immediately or chuck it, seems not worth putting in the fridge at this point.

It's mixed beef and pork mince if that makes a difference?

I have a decidedly laissez-faire attitude towards food hygiene and even I would bin this.

Chuck it. I did an advanced food hygiene course and that's far longer than js safe for raw meat to be at an ambient temperature.

100% throw away.

My decider is usually to offer a piece of any meat I’m unsure about to the cat: if she eats it, it’s definitely fine to use because she’s far fussier about the freshness of food than I am.

However, in this instance, I wouldn’t even offer it to her and would just bin it!

scrivette · 22/09/2024 20:15

I would eat most things but in this case I think I would be binning it.

Bin it.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 22/09/2024 20:33

Well it's probably still ok but even I wouldn't take the probably small risk (and I'm quite relaxed about these things)

I definitely could do with cleaning out my handbag, but not because of a vacuum pack of mince has been in it 🤣

Update: husband (who can be a bit of a professional northerner) declared he was going to cook a big Bolognese with it and sample a portion last night. We decided if he wasn't shitting through the eye of a needle today the rest of us would have some.

Lo and behold he is fine so it's spag bol for dinner for us.
