Which coach station stop is best?

I live in London but the only choices available to pick up a coach for where I am going are:

Cheshire - Lymm Services or Warrington

Greater Manchester - Bolton or Wigan

Merseyside - Birkenhead or Liverpool

I would obvs have to stay nearby!

Not fussed as long as cheapie hotels nearby!!

Right. And your question is?

Needmorelego · 21/09/2024 16:19

@DryBiscuit I think she wants to know which is the best coach station from those listed.
Facilities, nearby hotels etc.

Deathraystare · 21/09/2024 16:29

As in title. Already explained coming down from London Which coach station stop is best? Basically again, if coming down/up from London which is the best coach station with amenities, best but cheapie hotels. Not sure even which is nearest to London but I guess it doesn't really matter.

As I have not been to these places before I just wanted an idea from people that have.

@Deathraystare I don't know those coach stops unfortunately but maybe have a look on Google earth and see what's in the area around them.
Wish we had done that for the budget coach my husband took to Northampton rather than National Express because it dropped him off at some random edge of town area rather than the actual town centre 🙁

Needmorelego · 21/09/2024 16:33

@Deathraystare if my geography is right I think Manchester is the closed to London.
Edit : although you've said Greater Manchester so I'm not sure.
Sorry....I'm not much help 🙂

MissMoneyFairy · 21/09/2024 16:33

Where do you need to get to

kenidorm · 21/09/2024 16:35

Will you actually need any of the facilities at the coach station if you are staying at a nearby hotel?

Deathraystare · 21/09/2024 16:40

Not really I guess but just wanted a feel for the place(s). Ok I may try Greater Manchester but will check up prices of hotels near each place.

I was just hoping someone would say don't go to X horrible place etc etc try Y if you see what I mean.

@Deathraystare the one called "Lymm Services" is probably just off a motorway rather than an actual coach station.....
(out of curiosity I'm gonna Google earth it....)
Ok.... quick Google. There an Ibis Hotel, Maccyds, M+S food hall etc.
But lots of Lorries parked so it's probably a very "truck stop" atmosphere.

Needmorelego · 21/09/2024 16:47

A lotta lorries......

Which coach station stop is best?
zebrapig · 21/09/2024 16:55

Lymm services is a truck stop just off the M6. It's got a motel and a small M&S food, a WHSmith and a McDonalds.

Warrington bus station is ok, not somewhere I'd want to spend loads of time, although it's right in town so easy enough to walk 5/10 mins to the Travelodge or restaurants.

Depending what your priorities are I'd probably go for Lymm out of the two.

Deathraystare · 22/09/2024 08:23

Thanks so much especially @zebrapig and @Needmorelego. Perhaps I did not explain myself properly but that is just the sort of info i needed. I know such places are just there for to use the loos, have a coffee and something to eat as well as pick up a coach, but as I was given a choice I thought I would ask if there were some places to really avoid and which are near some hotels. Muchly thanks!

Do you need to get to somewhere else after you get off the coach, though? It's just that Lymm Services is a great facility for drivers but not for pedestrians. No bus or train nearby, and a taxi is not going to be cheap as it's miles from the nearest towns.
