Tips for aging hipster Newcastle weekend

Morning all. So I’ve booked 2-nights in Newcastle to celebrate my husband’s (50th) birthday. I was originally going to take him away on a quiet Cotswold-y weekend, but changed my mind and thought we should go to on a citybreak to somewhere a bit more lively. We are staying on the Quayside.
Could anyone local or familiar with Newcastle offer some tips for places I can take him that are a bit trendy but not packed with 20yr olds getting wasted. He’s very design conscious (think graphic designer) interested in history/architecture/art galleries. He also likes pretentious places haha. So hipster microbrewery, trendy coffee shops, design-led boutiques that sort of thing.
Very grateful for your suggestions ❤️

The Ouseburn area (just east of the city centre) sounds like it might fit requirements

The Pitcher and Piano is good too.

I would be looking to see if there is live music on at the Tyne, even better if the weather is good and it's outside.

There is also loads of other stuff down the Ouseburn, tap houses etc.

Don't got to the diamond strip and definitely don't go to the Bigg market.

Simply one of the best bars in Newcastle - The Tyne Bar is THE place for great beer, food and music. Find us on Maling Street in the city's Ouseburn Valley.

Thank you so much @EddieMunson and @Tynesider007 so perhaps if I book an early dinner at Cook House (looks about right) and then some of the pubs/breweries for drinks afterwards. Great 👍🏻

From the quayside you can walk towards hoults yard, there are some nice breweries, full circle brewery and Tyne bank brewery. Then heading back towards the quayside there’s the free trade with nice beers and amazing views then down the little hill there’s the Tyne bar. Then there’s brinkburn brewery which is quite nice and does amazing beer and burgers Then on the quayside is the crown posada, one of the oldest pubs in Newcastle, it’s brilliant.

Remember people in Newcastle don't wear coats or jumpers. My parents wouldn't let me put without one when I was a teenager but my friend always managed to get away with it !! I'm 61 now so definitely need my thermals 🤣
