Which nespresso machine (or alternative)?

I am thinking of buying a pod coffee machine. I currently use a cafetiere and hate the faff involved in cleaning out the pot! (Have adhd and small tasks can seem insurmountable sometimes.)

Nespresso is currently on offer but willing to look at alternatives. Budget is flexible but can't justify one of the ultra £1k plus types! Don't like dolce gusto much, having used one in work - lots of the pods taste too sweet for my liking.

I'm a bit overwhelmed all of the different types of Nespresso machine and other options and am really struggling to work out what I need. Can anyone help?

I mostly drink an Americano but I'm also very partial to a flat white. Ideally, the machine would have the facility to make a latte for DH and (if possible) mocha for dd, but neither of these are priorities as dd is at uni and dh can take it or leave it.

It also needs to be quick to make, easy to clean (otherwise I may as well stick with my cafetiere!) and the pods must be recyclable so that I can slightly assuage my climate guilt.

Can anyone recommend a machine that would suit my needs?! Thank you so much.

Just a warning, if you buy one that uses the Vertuo system then you can ONLY buy pods direct from Nespresso. The ones that use the small old style ones can use cheaper alternatives.

I suggest going onto the Nespresso website as they have some good offers. Such as buy a certain number of pods and get a free coffee machine or discounted etc.

They also send you free coffee when you buy a machine.

Check there anywhere to see if that works out cheaper to buy direct with them.

So any of the Nespresso original pod machines would work well, best option to make all of those drinks (in my experience!) would be one of the Creatista ones - you can programme your own drink preferences in (e.g water temperature, amount, milk temperature and milk froth) so that once you've set it up you literally have to put the pod in (and milk if needed into the jug), press the setting you want and it's done.

Bonus is with the original pods they're sold by lots of other brands and companies, whereas vertuo currently is only Nespresso (but will eventually be other brands!).

Ah I made this mistake! But happy to buy their pods from them directly for now. I could buy a reusable pod that I can put coffee in. But can't be bothered to do that now.

Have you tasted coffee made from pods??

Thank you, that's useful to know about the vertuo models. Creatista sounds good!

We're very happy with lattissima. Click in the milk container and put it back in the fridge afterwards - it does not warm up the entire thing like with jug options, so you don't need to wash it each time.

Yes, I have. My close friend has a nespresso and I know I don't like some of the coffee that it makes but I have worked out which ones I do like. It isn't as good as coffee made from fresh beans but it isn't bad.

I like my nespresso magimix because I like latte / flat white style with my own milk. There is good advice on nespresso website depending on coffee types you like.

I have a dolce gusto one and can get pods in Aldi for a fraction of the price! They do so many different kinds - I spotted a kitkat chocolate one yesterday 🥰 I love the machine so much I've got one at home and one in my office..!
