If you were taking 2 teenagers to London

.. from Yorkshire for an overnight trip. Where would you stop? And what would you do?

I'm clueless. It's years since I visited. Teenagers are older. 19 and 16. We'd be on a budget so cheap or free is better.

We'd like to see the usual sights. HOP/Tower of London (though I imagine that's a day in itself?). I'd like a boat trip. Kids would like shopping. I'd like Covent Garden. DH is happy with anything historical/museums.

I'm guessing a premier inn would be cheapest? But where?

How does an Oyster card work? Though we've all got bank cards so could use those?

I don't mind walking but would struggle with miles and miles. So central / good links would be essential.
We'd be driving down. How would that work with the congestion charge etc?

Thank you in advance Flowers

M&M World in Leicester Square is incredibly popular with young people. Otherwise I would suggest a meal in China Town. Camden. A tall building - you can pay to go up the Shard, Tower Bridge, London Eye, Battersea Power Station, but there are also buildings with free roof tops, like the Sky Garden. If you Google, you will find details and how to get in. It can take a bit of forward planning.

My two are a similar age and enjoy Camden.

They also like Soho/Leicester Square/China Town/Piccadilly Circus/Oxford Street which are all quite close together and walkable.

Loads of vintage shops in Covent Garden off the main square, also Forbidden Planet which is close by. Cucumber Alley/Seven Dials Market is right there with loads of different street food.

Agree with Horizon 22 if you can book tickets, it’s free and also right next to the Guildhall which is also free and has a Roman amphitheatre in the basement. You can then walk over the bridge and down Southbank which has a really good atmosphere.
