Lichen Sclerosus

Hi,

I was diagnosed with this around 6 months ago and have been given some treatments to try - Dermovate and Clotrimazole - but they don't seem to be doing much. I am so uncomfortable and sore with it and wondered if anyone could suggest other things that might work better? I don't have my next hospital appointment for a few months so won't see anyone to ask until then.
Thanks.

The best advice I got was on here, I’d been using Dermovate for 3 months with no change until then.

Apply, using a mirror, morning and evening for two weeks. That worked far better than the 3 months of reducing use the Dr advised.
The mirror showed that, until using it, I’d likely been missing where it needed to go quite often.

Thank you @Brobdingnagian for your reply. I will give that a try although at times it feels like the Dermovate is actually making it worse. I wouldn't wish this horrible condition on anyone and hope that you are not suffering too much.

I've had it years, in-between flare ups I use some cream with Aloe in or whatever you will find soothing and moisturising, I found the skin splits and gets sore if not moisturised. I've tried lots over the years. At the moment I have some Childs Farm fragrance free nappy cream Just a tiny bit. I've had other creams over the years, Sudacrem made it worse as did anything with Zinc in for me. Coconut oil worked but is too greasy. It's trial and error unfortunately.

I suffer with soreness and cell atrophy which they thought was lichen sclerosis. But was on eumovate for years and now just on Emulsifying ointment from a pharmacy which is helping alot. My extra advice would be only wear cotton underwear and try to air when possible. Also, when applying cream really only use a thin layer of cream/ ointment.

And try stopping using the clotrimazole, I’m sure I read that it can actually weaken the skin even more so I try to avoid using that at all costs now, even when I get thrush I only use the pessary.

I hope you find something that works for you x

Thank you @MrsCarson and @Crumpets12. At this point, I will try anything to make it feel a bit better so all suggestions are really helpful. I was using just Dermovate at one point but it felt like it was burning me and made it feel worse but I'll try that again to see if it helps.
Thank you all again Flowers
