Man who allowed 50 men to rape his wife

I've got no words. The whole thing angers me so much. It's grotesque. What a sick and demented human being.

I can't imagine being his wife or one of his children and what they all must be going through.

No real point to this post other than to vent my utter disgust at the matter. I hope this man rots in hell.

”I loved her well for 40 years and badly for 10," he added, apparently referring to the decade during which he drugged her and abused her.

What needs to change in society so stuff like this doesn't happen again? 😡😥

The way that article was written is interesting. It's all about him, with possible excuses for his inexcusable behaviour (abused as a child, wife was unfaithful). Lots about what he and the other rapists have said. Nothing from the victim.

GCAcademic · 17/09/2024 13:17

All the NAMALT types need to fuck off now. Look at just how many men were willing to rape this poor woman. And no doubt there are many more who wanted to but were deterred by the prospect of being caught. And then there are those who apparently knew what was going on but turned a blind eye. One depraved monster is horrendous enough, but the sheer number of these rapists is staggering. Men like this (in mind, if not opportunity) must be all around us.

Yes, see also Huw Edwards. Always someone else's fault, they couldn't help it, etc..

As if "loving her well for forty years" had any bearing on the monstrous acts on her that he facilitated.

I hope he dies in prison.

And that all the rapists in the case are feeling hot burning excruciating shame.

Paisleydad · 17/09/2024 21:00

Gisèle Pelicot. It isn't possible to express enough respect and admiration for her.

Her abusers? I have no words.

I feel shame and I have difficulty understanding why.

Honeytutu · 17/09/2024 21:03

An utter Pig who was just sorry he got caught .

BuffaloCauliflower · 17/09/2024 21:06

50 men are on trial for raping her, but the actual number is 90+

Ifailed · 17/09/2024 21:07

He "allowed", really ?

FrostFlowers2025 · 17/09/2024 21:09

"Allowed"

Didn't he orchestrate this cruelty? That's like saying a man "allowed" someone to kill his brother after hiring a hit man. FGS.

spartanrunnergirl · 17/09/2024 21:09

Hadley Freeman in The Times nails it. The French rapist began small. They always do

We could start by banning men from accessing the internet. They've hardly used it wisely have they?

He's just started giving evidence, and that article is on his "story". All about him as the poor suffering hero.Angry

That's why it's so different from the tone of the previous articles.

FrostFlowers2025 · 17/09/2024 21:18

Every time I hear of shit like this and even more so when I hear men excusing or minimising this with language such as "allowed", I lose a bit a sympathy for men. At this point there is precious little left.

Yes this. I don't really have the words.

Huge admiration for Gisèle.

not one of the appx 100 men approached by her husband did anything to stop what was happening or report it.

for a start, more men (a lot more men) need to challenge their friends/family members when they hear/see them acting in a misogynistic manner.

Daniel sloss (comedian) gave an excellent talk about a friend of his who went on to rape and admitted the signs were there before the crime was committed.

dessyh · 17/09/2024 21:32

Put this in another thread but didn't get any responses. I have questions about this case, though don't know if they can be answered.

Why hasn't the mayor of the town been forced out of his role for minimising this horrific crime to the world's press? He basically said, well no one died and no kids were involved.

Why did it take three years to close down the website where the rapist husband recruited his fellow rapists after he was found out?

How did so many men know about this website in such a small area?

Why isn't there more of a focus on the 20 local rapists still not caught in the vicinity of Mazan? Haven't seen any English language or French articles about the search for them. A bbc piece quoted a local woman as being terrified knowing they were around but the headline was something bland like 'a town torn apart'.

duckydoo234 · 17/09/2024 21:41

Honestly the most shocking thing is the number of men who participated, directly or indirectly. You will always get occasional psychopaths. Not that that's okay, but it happens - no amount of societal good can stop the complete wackos. The fact is that out of a town of 6,000 people, so let's say 2,000 adult men, 80 participated, and god knows how many others knew about it, hundreds probably, and not one of them reported what was going on. That's the shocker: the fact that, no matter what is going on, if a man tells another man it's okay, then a woman isn't to be considered human. On the whole, men do not consider women to be humans.

Motherrr · 17/09/2024 21:55

It's terrifying how many men were willing to partake

And terrifying how this lady truly believed her husband to be a good man, not a heinous rapist. It scares me to think.. does that mean that any of us who are with men who we genuinely believe to be good, also don't know what they're really capable of, or what they're really like?

I have so much respect and admiration for her with her courage and bravery. I can't imagine how she must feel
