We used to have hive, now wondering if we should get hive or nest? Have the Phillips hue bridge as well for lights.

Sorry can’t edit title to « Hive or nest »

IMO Hive wins hands down over Nest

@Tallisker can you switch off the automatic learning bit? I like to have full control of switching the heating on and off and don’t like it will put it on when it thinks I want it on (have loss of temp control due to a medical condition and don’t want to be overheated when I want to be cold!)

Yes you don't need a schedule, you can just put it on whenever you want from the app.

I LOVE my Hive and my 2 friends who had Nest changed to Hives.

We used to have HIVE, but I keep reading reviews that nest is bette and hive is the budget version? Why did you both choose hive over nest? @RainbowWife @Tallisker

I have HIVE and am happy with it. It was recommended by the plumber who installed by boiler and is keeping my family of older children and I happy in hot showers and heating.

Sorry for the delay in responding. We have nest at home and really struggle with it. We can't programme it, and it won't connect to the app so we have use it manually. Which is fine but not the point of it.

I've access to hive in a relative's house and it seems so easy to use.

A friend rents a house with nest and they can't get it to connect and struggle to programme it.

Not much help but that's the extent of my knowledge.

Hive's easy to use

A friend recommended it to me. But I like it so much I've had it fitted in my new house too. I really like the scheduling feature and the 'boost' option. Also had it years in my old house and never a problem. Have 2 here as upstairs and downstairs are different zones.

We use Wiser. Got it originally because it was the only one compatible with an electric boiler, but then when we moved we just brought the radiator valves with us. It can be slow and have trouble staying connected to the internet, but it’s easy to use and wasn’t massively expensive.

We've got Tado and DH was able to fit it himself quite easily, he is a competent but not expert DIYer. I think they sent him specific instructions for our model of boiler via their help desk.

We've got their thermostatic valves on some radiators now and they are cheaper than the Hive ones and we're also really straightforward to fit. If you don't want the "learning" mode then there's no ongoing cost; if you want to have that and other features like turning the heating on when you get close to home etc then there's a monthly subscription.

I really like it. I appreciated being able to stick the heating and hot water on for the cleaner while we were on holiday and then make sure there was hot water by the time we got home!

We’ve just moved house. We had Hive in our old house and new house is Nest.
Nest is so so poor compared to Hive! If it wasn’t such a waste we’d get Nest took out and Hive put in. The apps (you have to use Nest AND google home) are awful, setting a schedule is awful, you can’t see how often the heating has been on until the next day and even then doesn’t say times etc. it’s just crap in comparison to Hive!
