Haven recommendations!

I have never been before, but I'm tempted to go Easter time next year.
I have heard so many varying opinions, some love some hate 🙈
I live north west, don't mind an hour or 2 drive.
I want to go somewhere for activities for a girl and boy under ten, good swimming and entertainment. I'm a solo parent so would like to go somewhere with lots to do that doesn't break the bank 🙈

Any ideas? Which sites are the best to go to?

Hafan y mor near Pwllheli
best one in wales …none of them are cheap these days during school holidays

Ditto to Hafan y mor. We go most years, as its not too far from us. The swimming complex is great. There's a wave pool, slides and flumes. The activity village is also great with various activities.

It's is very expensive in the school holidays though. We've only ever been once on the holidays

Thank you! I will have a look there and see what dates are best 😊

Sorry to jump on - can anyone recommend which caravan type to choose? I usually go to Parkdean resorts because you can choose the exact model and know what you are getting, but with Haven it's just silver/gold etc

Thanks!

Hagerston in Northumberland is good lots to do near by Alnwick Gardens and Lilidori play place, nice beaches etc. Has a big indoor pool and soft play etc. Also had horse riding last time we went.

We just booked berwick. The lowest caravan that still has heating was £185 for may half term week. That's 3 adults 3 kids with the passes.
We have never had the passes before so no idea what's included.
We like berwick as it's a small site. Walking distance from 2 beaches, and the train ( if you don't fancy driving) and the town.
Absolutely loads to do in Northumberland.
In comparison the haggerston castle site is huge and a but rough.

We went to Hopton in Norfolk and it was lovely, great pools indoor and out and a really nice beach.

@FlangeBoil we always go for a Bronze. Unless you want a veranda, then you'd need Silver but we are happy with a bronze. Always lovely caravans. I've never stayed in a Saver, so can't comment on them but they don't have central heating.

FlangeBoil · 17/09/2024 11:58

@CeeJay81 thank you!

I'm quite open to the idea of going Northumberland way as I've heard a lot of lovely things about the area as it is and people are always telling me to go there.
I really want somewhere with a good pool and entertainment, my children love swimming!

The Haggerston castle is brilliant for activities. Our now 11yo has done archery, junior Segway, inflatable course, bungee trampolines, we've played crazy golf, there's a couple of playgrounds, decent ish size soft play, amusement arcades and swimming pool.

It's a short drive to holy island and we've also done Bamburgh Castle which was lovely and loads to do, seahouses for amusements and fish and chips, and Alnwick.

LegoHouse274 · 17/09/2024 16:35

I've been to Haggerston Castle quite a few years ago now (pre-children!) and it was a nice little holiday. The local area is beautiful. We went to Alnwick Castle gardens and Holy Island and did a few activities on site like horse riding and archery.

There is a Haven that a few of my friends have been to with their kids that they really rate, I think it's called something like Hafan Y Mor? I'm also in the NW you see.
