Was just messing about with DP and he was chasing me into the bedroom, I knocked my self on the end of the bed and my knee did kind of a weird twist which was so painful! It felt like something teared!! And made a loud crack! Been writing in agony for a few mins probs from the shock. It's now very sore and painful. Nothing looks to be out of place. I can bend it and straighten it and put weight on it but it's very painful and feels like it might give way. I can already feel it starting to swell. What the bloody hell have I done? Dp says it doesn't warrant A and E as it's obvs not broken. What shall I do and what could it be.

How are you HelpMePlease32?

I have knee pain and I'm using an ibuprofen and menthol gel. It's brilliant. Mine 🙈 to have been related to house hunting with an arthritic hip.

Did you get a diagnosis?

Hi everyone.

I went to the UTC in the end. The gp said it looked/sounded like I have a meniscus tear, treat at home for a couple weeks and if no better or worse to contact them and they will give me an MRI. The pain seems to be getting better. Just my knee cap is still quite sore and locking. So still walking with a limp but it's not as sore as it was before! And the swelling has gone down.

I had this during lockdown. Treated it at home with RICE protocol. It healed over several weeks but still felt vulnerable, locking and/or giving way intermittently.
There are some great physio exercises online that are really simple but make a huge difference to the strength and stability of the knee if you do them regularly. Hope you feel better soon.
