Eaten mouldy sponge cake

Spongecake149 · 16/09/2024 15:53

I bought my DD a cake from the local shop yesterday, which she took to work today, and she's rang to say that it's mouldy, but that she'd eaten a good chunk of it before realising.
The cake is two weeks out of date, is it best if she makes herself vomit to try and get rid of it?

what kind of shop?

she must have been pretty peckish to scoff most of a mouldy cake

workemail71 · 16/09/2024 15:57

A convenience store, the mould wasn't visible on the outside

Nah she'll be fine
Gross but harmless

What like a corner shop

I stopped going to ours years ago after buying off milk and don't go to any of the other local convenience stores either for that reason

I just stick to the main supermarkets and their smaller versions instead

Yes, it's put me off going in there now,, a day or so out of date wouldn't be an issue, but two weeks is a piss take

but presumably the taste?!

workemail71 · 16/09/2024 16:15

i don’t suppose many people see their newsagents as a place to buy a cake

lottery, newspaper, cigs, booze, chocolate bar and crisps… yes

a cake? probably need sitting there for months

A colleague bought a sponge cake to work which had cream inside. As I was eating it, I though 'Oh, its got blueberries in it!'
Nope- they were blobs of mould! I didn't get as far as 1 mouthful, but I'm sure your DD will be ok.

Assuming your DD is an adult (with her being in work) then I'm not really sure what you're posting on here for?

Because she's obviously concerned. And her daughter could be 16. You may not be worried about something like that, and nor would I but OP clearly is.

workemail71 · 16/09/2024 16:42

i would t mind if my daughter at 40 called me worried about something she’d eaten

i would love the chance to “mother” a bit!

OP sounds like someone who has a close relationship with her daughter and is very concerned about her wellbeing. Have you got children?

The clue's in my original post, it's not difficult for anyone else to understand. Although I guess you're just being deliberately condescending
