Urgent help needed with pain

Had to be cut down below during birth then stitched up I was then unstitched and stitched again. I’m in absolute agony and wincing every second I can’t sit down with out pain even laying in bed hurts. I’ve tried every thing I could get my hands on in boots to help from ice packs to witch hazel liners arnica cream for the giant bruises. I’m taking round the clock dihydrocodeine paracetamol and ibuprofen. My midwife has checked it twice and says it’s healing and stitched nicely. I’m finding it so hard to look after a new born my partner has had to go straight back to work. When he’s home he won’t let me lift a finger and family have come to visit a few times but the pain is unbearable. Any advice

I used to add lavender, tea tree and peppermint essential oils to my bath, that helped healing

Poor you. Be careful with dihydrocodeine. It can make you constipated which won’t be pleasant in your current situation. You could take Lactulose daily to counteract this.

thank you am only on it for 3 days and have been taking lactose already along with some fibre gel tablets. I’m also changing my pad extra regularly so everything is dry down bellow and making sure it’s washed my plain warm water and then thoroughly dry

Oh I can really sympathise, drink plenty of water and some lavender oil in a bath! I've never understood why the MW are so blasé about these stitches they're absolute agony and really take a while to heal x

You can get a local anaesthetic gel ( lignocaine) .. need a prescription though.

CormorantStrikesBack · 15/09/2024 07:26

Have you tried putting some water on a pad and putting it in the freezer for a bit and then putting it in your pants? Maybe double knicker up and put it between the layers so you don’t have a frozen pad on bare skin?

Melonballs1 · 15/09/2024 11:28

I already have some pads that have gel on them that you freeze

Can you still buy over the counter Lanacane cream? That has a local anaesthetic in.
