Retraining in maternity leave to do what?

YourHangryQuail · 13/09/2024 18:29

I work in childcare and I really don’t want to go back.

My maternity leave will be over by January and I could stretch not working beyond that if I have to.

I have no clue what else I could do, I have been looking at Apprenticeships but they would be full time and little pay to start with.

I would love to work from home part-time, but I have no idea what I could do.

Has anyone got any insight?

Finance? Accountancy?

YourHangryQuail · 14/09/2024 18:52

How would I get into that?

How are we possibly supposed to advise you when we know nothing about your background or qualifications?!

I'm sorry but threads like this are very silly.

I mentioned in my OP that I come from a childcare background.

I mentioned in my OP that I come from a childcare background.

This really doesn't give enough to go on. What are your strengths/weaknesses? Likes and dislikes?

There's no value in just plucking a career out of thin air because it is work from home... the job has to align with you.

This is a great idea!

I wanted to leave childcare all together and would like to see what skills or trading I could do in maternity leave to get a pt wfh job.

So many jobs WFH now, or at least are flexible and hybrid. Other posters are correct in that you'd need to list more strengths etc for people to help. do you have qualifications, e.g. degree, a levels, GCSEs. Are you good at anything in particular? You have basically 6 months to learn a new field so really you need something to build on. Otherwise you would need to go back to studying maybe

I’ve worked from home before as a telephone interviewer and have worked in childcare for most of my working life. L3 which is the equivalent of A Levels.
