Near constant heart palpitations

Has anyone had near constant heart palpitations? My Apple Watch is showing about 8 palpitations per minute.
I went to see the doctor today and they weren't concerned. Said to give it a week and go back if no improvement?
I just don't get how something affecting your heart is not an issue! I've cut out caffeine (only ever had one cup a day anyway) and I don't feel stressed. They just started a few days ago and never stopped. They're really really worrying me now.

@Birdingbear I know this post is old but your symptoms sound just like mine, especially the low bp. Can I ask how low your bp was and if its gone back to normal now? And how old were you when this started? I'm 42 and wondering if its peri related. I get a thumping heart which beats around 100bpm area a big meal/alcohol (which is nearly everyday now) and my resting heart rate is often between 74-85bpm which I think is high.

74-85 resting isn’t high. And it’s normal for your HR to increase after eating.

I think you should insist on having a 24 or 48 hour monitor (Holter ECG). That will catch the palpitations and the rate/rhythm. It will show if you have ectopic beats (harmless), SVT (treatable), or Atrial Fibrillation (treatable).

If it is benign like ectopic, the palpitations can have no cause, or different things might set them off, but knowing that they are harmless might reduce the frequency, since obviously if you are worried, the palpitations can happen!

No one here can diagnose you, so get it checked out asap for peace of mind.

I see this a lot - you should insist on this investigation etc etc
Just to let you know: as a patient you cannot demand or insist on treatment/investigations you think you need. As a patient you are only entitled to receive appropriate investigations/treatment. This is decided by a suitable clinician. You are, of course, entitled to seek a second opinion

They aren't palpitations they are ectopic beats. If they were palpitations they wouldn't be 8 per minute.
