Scarlet fever scare

I have been informed by my child's school that there has been a confirmed case of scarlet fever. They have asked parents to look out for symptoms and get the necessary treatment from a GP. Does this mean all children in the classroom will be getting scarlet fever? She just got over a stomach bug poor child!

No, it doesn't mean that all children will get it. Just that some may have been exposed and there may be other cases. It's treatable with antibiotics.

No it doesn't mean they will all get it. Scarlet fever is a notifiable disease so the GP has to report any cases - which is why the school has been made aware.
Parents just need to be looking out for symptoms and go to the GP if their child has any. Main symptoms are sore throat, high temperature, "strawberry" tongue and a rash with a sandpaper feel. It does need antibiotics for treatment which is why parents have been informed.
My DD had it and it's not nice but she got better quite quickly once she started on the antibiotics

Thanks for the reassurance! Hope no child gets it and the one who got it gets better quickly it's so stressful for parents.

Our school had it across “several year groups”. Mine didn’t catch it.
