Hi there, is it possible to manage my Facebook account so that these two girls don't know that I am friends with the other.

Advice appreciated as to any settings that I can use. Thank you.

Do you actually want to stay friends with the ex or be friends with the new gf? Realistically, this is going to happen A LOT more in the future unless marriage is imminent with the new one so it might be a matter of just not being friends with them or letting them decide to unfriend you as needed.

I would hope they would both be mature enough to handle it or remove themselves if not. My mum is still Facebook friends with my ex, and she and I are NC now! 😂 So my ex knows more about her life than I do. To be fair, he was a decent guy, we stayed in touch, Dh and I went to his wedding, and I’m actually Facebook friends with his wife. 😂 So all genuinely friendly and above board. It was never weird because we didn’t make it weird and we all behaved like grown ups.

I think if one of them can’t behave, then they need to go. Otherwise, you expect them to act mature enough to be friends with an (ex) boyfriend’s mum.

You can hide your friends so nobody but you knows who you are friends with.

But if people post on your profile or respond on posts then they will see each other.

They can also see mutual friends.

How old are the ex and girlfriend?
The problem is if they are quite young you could end up with issues if the girlfriend sees the ex on there.
Before social media this was so much better. Friends and boyfriends were your own circle of people rather than the rest of your family’s circle too (unless it was serious or they chose to visit a lot).
I would be inclined to remove the ex to keep things civil with your child and their current girlfriend.

Mmmm, I need to do some searching. Can I set up a ‘close’ friends group with only one of them in it?

Would that limit what they can see?

What does your son suggest?

You can change one of them to “acquaintance” (I think) rather than “friend”, and then when you post photos / status, you can set it so only your friends list can see. This would stop the acquaintance seeing it and being able to comment. So staying friends but with limitations. I think you need to use a laptop / computer to do if though as I can’t see the option on my phone.

Thanks, I will definitely take a look.

You can set it so that the ex can't see your posts.

Just delete them both problem solved.

I refuse to be sly. I'm Facebook friends with my daughters first boyfriend as he is lovely and he spent a lot of time with us.

We are all adults and I don't have any patience for petty, childish behaviour.
