Yorkshire days out

We are very excited to be doing our first holiday to Filey in October. Never been to Yorkshire and we are all excited. We have a 10 and 9 year old. What are the best days out? We don’t mind driving a little distance from Filey to them as this is our main holiday this year so want to make the most of it!

DS loved Flamingo Land at that age. I don't know if it's still as good. Plus most of the other places mentioned. Bempton Cliffs is a bit smelly and DS would have been bored though I loved it when we went recently.

Coasteering with Scarborough surf school at Thornwick Bay. North Yorkshire Water park or Alpmare if the weather isn't so good.

Filey has an excellent whiskey distillery with a cafe that did a fab afternoon tea - something for all the family?!

If you're coming so far, you probably want a day in York.

Waterpark and Peasholm Park at Scarborough

Go south for a day, you could visit Bempton Cliffs nature reserve, Flamborough Head and and Danes Dyke

Pickering is good if you like steam trains, you could get the North York Moors railyway to Whitby and back

Perhaps Dalby Forest where you can hire bikes

Then stay locally the other days.

Just to add locally there is.a big wooden climbing frame & a children's playground in Filey Country Park. It is a favourite in our family. Nothing very exciting. We park there if we go for the day & it's the first & last part of our trip. DS would probs say it's a highlight for him.

Also book the Italian restaurants in advance and watch the closing tint for Ingams fish & chips restaurant
