I’ve not driven into London for years and don’t know how the ulez works. There are 4 of us going so the train is out this time. Where can I park and get on the tube without getting too far into London proper?

If you get a Friends and Family railcard it should pay for itself on this trip alone. You can buy it online instantly. I think it covers up to 4 people although it might be 2.

Use the Trainline app and tick the box that says railcard.

Just Park book a parking space near to where ever you want to be.

One of my best discoveries

I'd go to Ebbsfleet, not a tube stop but not too far kn the train to change at St Pancras, and easier to park at than the o2 given the current roadworks on the peninsula

You could drive on the M20 to sevenoaks or Orpington and train in from there. Very straightforward from Dover. You could get closer but the mainline trains will be very frequent.

@ToBeOrNotToBee thank you. My kid left for university at the and your absolutely perfect solution to a non London savvy person on this problem gave us a fabulous last weekend together as a family.

Incidentally, it might get out of my shell and find a way out of empty nest syndrome - London doesn’t seem like Mars anymore.

I’m very grateful.
