I was started on Lisdexamfetamine yesterday, and was wondering if anyone had had any experience with it? Anything I should know, does it work etc?

No medication is a magic pill that cures all.

I’m on methylphenidate and it quietens maybe half the tabs that are open in my brain for about 8 hours a day which helps me at work.

Am still prone to procrastination and could make being messy into an Olympic sport.

I’ve been on it for 6 months. What dose are you on? Is your doctor titrating?

Its worked well for me, once I got the dosage right. Vastly improved concentration, reduced anxiety, increased motivation to do things I don’t want to do or find hard.

Not without side effects for me, though. Nothing sinister, but reduced appetite and a very dry mouth and if I’m under the weather or near to my period I lower my dose, as it can make me feel literally like I’m on amphetamines - wired and twitchy - and fucks with my sleep.

My ds takes that and he gets on great with it.
If this is your 1st prescription then it will be a lower dose so you may not find it very helpful right now but they will adjust it higher dose over a few months until they get the correct dose for you.
The meds usually start to kick in about 30 mins after he takes them and it takes about an hour to get the full effect from them. Some people have issues with appetite and/or nausea with them so it's always best to take them with food.

I'm on 30mg at the moment. I assume they will want to review at some point.

@Barrenfieldoffucks they have to leave 4to 6 weeks between medication review incase of side affects and usually up it by 10mg each time.
Ds takes 60mg which is a fairly high dose though he's 6" and built like a tank and has pretty severe ADHD, the dose you've been given is moderate dose and you may notice some difference but don't be surprised if it needs to change. When ds had to change meds from methylphenidate as he'd maxed out on it and it just wasn't working for him anymore his 1st dose of Lisdexamfetamine was 10mg and the 1st thing he said when he came out of school was that he was sooo under medicated, it took almost 9 months to titrate up to the correct dose. It takes time to get the correct dose for you, but if you persevere as an adult you shouldn't really need to change it again.
I don't know if anyone has warned you but there's a national shortage of ADHD meds and getting hold of them can involve going round multiple pharmacy's
