I don't know much about them and I have one on Sunday, trying to decided whether to take my kids or if it'll be too long for them to sit still in the church 🤣

At my church christenings happen as part of the church service, not separately, and the service is an hour and 15 ish.

What kind of church is it? Catholic services last much longer than Anglican for example

I'm godmother so I definitely can't skip it 🙈 it's not a catholic service, I know that much.

If it's on Sunday morning then I would assume it is.

One will probably sit nicely, the youngest gets very bored very quickly

In that case it might be a standalone ceremony, I'd say 30-45 minutes.

Blackcountryexile · 10/09/2024 20:57

Sounds as though it is separate from a regular service. Many churches will have a children's space with books and toys. You could take a quiet toy some colouring or books to keep DC occupied.

ienjoyeatingcake · 10/09/2024 20:58

Ok thank you. I'm getting a bit stressed. Hopefully not long than 45 mins 🤞🏻🤞🏻

My children's were stand-alone and about 30 mins.

Our local church do stand alone services but for multiple children and they have been around 45 mins when I've gone.

It’s fine for children to be bored at a christening. The church welcomes all babies, children and families for christenings. My friends bought their children to my child’s christening, some sat still quietly others chatted a bit, explored around, I wasn’t at all bothered. This isn’t like adult only Instagram weddings.

Bring your children. But op are you Christian? You might want to check what vows you need to say on the day.

Goes without saying but bring a snack bag and some things to entertain them they don’t normally get to play with (not iPads though!)
