Hi, does anyone else suffer with bad headaches & pressure in head up to 8 days before periods even due, I am currently not on any contraception (was on the pill since i was 15 & im now 35) I have two beautiful boys & my period headaches have never been like this but the headaches the last 5/6 months have been so bad they typically last until my period starts & paracetamol makes no difference, any advice, (similar stories) would love to hear because each month when they start it really does make me worry! :)

I do and I know others that do. I've always known it to be thought normal to have premenstrual headaches.

Can't help with what to do about it because migraines are somewhat individual but, while you should see a doctor regarding treatment options if they're causing you problems, you shouldn't worry. They'll likely refer you to a specialist for a scan since they suddenly got worse and the change has persisted but you shouldn't worry about that either!

Paracetamol won't touch a relatively mild headache for a lot of people and it absolutely won't do a thing for a migraine so I wouldn't use that as a marker of anything. Syndol and ibuprofen help me but only in terms of reducing the suffering. One of the triptans can be bought in the first instance over the counter to try.

You could try supplements - particularly magnesium but there's a whole protocol you can google.

Thank you for this, I was thinking is 7/8 days way to early for a headache to be period related, alot of reviews say headaches 2/3 days before periods due, i think its just the pressure & light headedness that bothers me most.

I get them at ovulation AND menstruation. I think it's fairly normal due to changes in hormone levels (for migraine sufferers who are sensitive to hormones). The timeline you describe fits exactly with ovulation.

Ugh sorry just re-read. You get them a week after ovulation, so likely still due to hormone surges.
