I love the term Lergi
My dad used to say this all the time about colds / flus or anything you pick up easily.
Not sure if it's origins , but he was born in 1922 so it's an old saying

What is lergi?

I always spelt it as lurgy but its one of those colloquialisms that probably doesn't have a real spelling. Just another word for illness.

Get well soon everyone!

the80sweregreat · 10/09/2024 13:33

Is it lurgy ? I've never seen it written down before so assumed lurgi was correct ( although it doesn't look like it now )

herecomesautumn · 10/09/2024 13:50

I think OP means lurgy.

Although I've never seen it written without being described as "the dreaded...."

Oh yes, .. the dreaded '
Forgotten this

I did mean 'lurgy' - thanks. I just use it as a generic term to mean illness, likely contagious.
