Is a heat pump dryer worth it?

My finger is hovering over the "buy now" button on an A++ one.... Will I regret it - it's a fair chunk to spend out but we could sell our condenser one that we avoid using because it's so expensive to run....

Hated mine. It took forever to dry anything, I was so glad when it died and I instantly replaced it with a condenser, I'll never buy one again.

I just bought a Samsung heat pump and it's streaks ahead of my 10yo Beko condenser! So quiet and things are very dry and very soft

Also hated mine. Was delighted when it died last week. We immediately replaced with a condenser which is quieter and faster.

The cost of drying is outweighed by the speed for us; we've gone from 4-5 hours for a full load to 2-2 and half.

I’ve got a Bosch heat pump dryer, it’s excellent has 40min quick function & a good few other useful programs for down jackets/coats a towel programme plus you can set for iron dry/cupboard dry/ plus different drying for cotton/synthetic/mixed fabrics.

Ooh mixed reviews! I suspect the more expensive ones are better?

I love ours. It’s a Miele. Gets everything dry, does take any longer than our old one. Uses a lot less energy.

Got a beko - works fine. Up to 2.5 hours, in theory, but often finished quicker than that if it's a small load or part-dried. Not had a single problem, to be honest.

I’m looking too - has anyone got a Which? Membership so can check out their guide?

Love mine...its an LG and most of my clothes are dry within 2 hours

SmellsLikeTeenSpiritParty · 08/09/2024 18:29

I've literally just bought one and absolutely love it! Ive got a Hotpoint. Dries much quicker than i expected and is cheap to run. I'm really glad I decided to go with a heat pump over a condenser.

We have a Beko. It does take much longer than our previous vented dryer.

Running cost is much cheaper and I think it’s gentler on the clothes.

I think when my children were little and I had multiple loads in a day I would feel a bit frustrated by it but for two of us it’s fine.

DrSavaage · 08/09/2024 18:53

Love mine, Bosch. Takes a bit longer, wool drier balls speed it up.

Landlubber2019 · 08/09/2024 18:56

Love ours, previously had a condenser dryer which created a lot of heat and we would need to.open the back door to disperse this, whereas heat pump creates no heat and you wouldn't know it was on!

Ours is good, it's a Beko one. Bought it last year for around £500 and have been pleased with it.
Dries well in the same time as our old vented one did, so it's definitely saved us money.
The only thing it's not great at is "finishing things off" that have been drying on the washing line (sensor thinks they're already dry)
