Hit and run - impact on insurance?

Last night a few cars on my street appear to have been hit by another car and the driver has driven off.

Unfortunately no one seen anything and no ring footage or anything due to houses sitting a bit further back from the road.

This is my second incident in as many months. Last one was an actual crash, I wasn't at fault so insurance paid and I had to make no contribution. Renewed my insurance literally a few weeks later and it was sky high.

My car is a mess, but I assume if I make a claim due to not knowing who hit me that 1. I will need to be my excess (which is really high due to last crash) but will I also lose my no claims. I have many years?

Could really do without this and want to understand the insurance impact before I make a claim. Thank you!!

Yes, your assumptions are right.
You pay the excess.
You will lose your NCD (or, it will be reduced, depending on the protection you have, it can be a 'first strike' ) and your premiums go up.

you have to keep declaring it for 5 years, and, just to rub it in, then call it a "fault claim" Angry

Ah gutted, but thank you!!

Can't believe it!! One neighbour is away for the weekend and other neighbour thinks he has CCTV, I don't think he does but I live in hope for a few more hours until proved otherwise Sad
