EBay Q - is this a scam somehow?

I’ve listed something on eBay, auction only, for a starting bid of just over £100. Someone’s messaged asking if I would pay the postage (within the UK). They haven’t bid on it yet but postage is listed as £3. It just seems odd to me that someone would spend over £100 then quibble over £3 postage. It feels off but I can’t work out how it could possibly be a scam. What do you think?

Sounds like they are just being a CF! Just say no!

FYI - Royal Mail first and second class and signed for only cover up to £20 if the parcel goes missing. You would want special delivery by 1pm to cover the full price.

£3 postage?

That's not going to cover you if your buyer claims the item didn't arrive?!

Always send items of value by trackable means.

If you've listed it as an auction only, then they either bid on the terms you established, or don't bid.

If you didn't list it with "make an offer" then I wouldn't even bother to respond.

If you still have no bids, then I think it's still possible to cancel or change the listing and re-post it with a postage deal that includes protection up to your expected selling price. If you have a bid, that's not an option, you are on the hook.

Thanks everyone, duly noted about the postage, I’ve amended it and told the CF no.
